Pumpkin Carver Application
  • The competition rules are pretty simple:
  • Each carver/team is allowed to carve only one pumpkin.
  • Only the pumpkin itself will be displayed in the competition. No props or foreign objects will be allowed to create the carved pumpkin or be used to stage the pumpkin for display. (i.e. no paint, toothpicks, pins, leaves, flowers, etc.)
  • The carver must supply all tools/materials needed to carve the pumpkin. All tools used by the carver/team must be manual or battery operated. No electric will be made available to the carvers or their teams.
  • Illumination from the inside of the pumpkin is the responsibility of the carver or their team. Candles (real wax or battery operated) can be used. Carvers are responsible for supplying candle(s) or other battery operated lighting to illuminate their design from inside the pumpkin.
  • The Great Delaware Pumpkin Carve is a family-friendly event and that should be kept in mind when preparing to carve your pumpkin. No vulgar, adult innuendo, political or excessively creepy, gory or macabre scenes.
  • Application deadline is Friday September 14, 2018 at 5:00 PM or whenever 50 applications have been received, whichever first occurs.
  • Pumpkins will be exhibited to the public on Saturday October 27th from 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Pumpkin may be removed from the display area by the carver after 9:00 PM Saturday October 27th. All remaining pumpkins will be disposed of by the festival after this time.
